History
By the beginning of the 20th century the need for a new cemetery in Ekeren makes itself urgently felt. The rural community is by then indeed quite built up and the existing cemetery proves too small. The municipality therefore purchases a plot in the Driehoekstraat; the completely walled cemetery is designed in 1907, established in the following years and becomes operational in 1910.
The honours court is designed after the Second World War and mainly contains Ekeren casualties, but it also counts a few graves of victims from other municipalities and who fell in various locations. The non-residents buried here lost their lives in fights on 18 May 1940. When the Germans operate a breakthrough at Sedan the Belgians give up the Antwerp stronghold and many Belgian soldiers fall during rear-guard action in Ekeren and Brasschaat.

Description
This small honours court contains some fourteen tombstones; ten of them follow a uniform, albeit local, model. The remaining tombstones are made to private designs. Ekeren municipal services maintain the graves for a fee.
