A day to pay final respects to a Belgian soldier from the First World War whose remains were found near the Dodengang.
The day kicks off early with The Last Roll Call, a torchlight procession, and a quiet candlelit ceremony around the soldier’s coffin. Afterwards, the remains are escorted with military honors from the Dodengang to De Panne, pulled by a four-horse team. The commemoration ends with the reburial at the military cemetery in De Panne, giving this soldier a dignified final resting place.
