More than 12,000 fallen servicemen and women are already listed in the War Dead Register with a photo. That’s a great number, but we want to honour many more Belgian war victims of the two World Wars with their photo.
That’s why we are once again making a heartfelt appeal to everyone who has photos: please share them with us!
Alongside family portraits and photos on memorial cards, there is another valuable but often forgotten source: commemorative photos that were issued by local authorities at the time. These sheets often contain the portraits of all the fallen from a particular municipality and are a particularly valuable addition to the War Dead Register.
Do you have any such photos? Send them to wardeadregister@warheritage.be
This way, the memory of those who fell can be preserved digitally for future generations.
