Paul Ruscart rests at the Canadian War Cemetery in Holten (Overijssel) in the Netherlands, among 1,355 Canadians, 36 Englishmen and 2 Australians.
A former student at the Royal Atheneum in Bruges and a member of the Secret Army, Paul Ruscart enlisted in the Belgian branch of the SAS, serving with the Independent Parachute Company.
Under the command of Major Blondeel, he took part in the fighting around Wilhelmshaven in Germany, where units of the Kriegsmarine put up fierce resistance.
On 1 May 1945, he was seriously wounded near Godenholt. He died a few days later, on 4 May. He was only 22 years old.
