In grave 152 at the military cemetery in Halen lies Jan-J. (Jean Joseph) Coninx, born on May 4, 1892 in Montegnée (province of Liège). At least, that’s what his headstone and death certificate in Hasselt say. Because that’s where he passed away on May 4, 1919.
Exactly the same day as his birthday. Possible… but still quite strange. No military record or birth certificate has been found.
How did he end up in Halen? Why is he buried there and not in his hometown? Many questions, but so far no answers.
