History
This plot of honour only counts one casualty, Maurice Dubois. He belongs to the 2nd Lancers Regiment. This unit is part of the highly mobile cavalry division used to fill gaps in the frontline.
It cannot be ascertained whether Marcel is taken prisoner of war at that precise point in time or rather after 28 May. He dies as early as 22 August in Nuremberg, Germany, and is buried in the city’s central cemetery. It is only on 10 April 1950, ten years after his death, that he is transferred to his hometown of Warnant. His civilian-type grave is recognised as a military grave.
